Why a loyalty card works for food trucks
A food truck moves, and that makes repeat customers harder to keep. Regulars find you at the Tuesday lunch spot, then lose track when you park somewhere else. A Wallet card keeps your truck on their phone between stops. There is no counter for a stack of paper cards and no space for a tablet, so the whole program runs from the phone you already have in the truck. Customers can also join from a link you post with your weekly schedule.
How it works at the truck window
Everything runs from your phone. No hardware, no POS integration, nothing for customers to install.
- 1
QR on the window or the menu board
Print the flyer from the app and tape it where people read the menu. Customers scan it while they wait for their order.
- 2
Stamp as you hand over the food
Scan the card on their phone and tap once. It takes a second, so the line keeps moving.
- 3
The sixth meal is on you
When the card is full the app shows the reward is ready. Redeem it at any stop.
What it looks like in the app
Scan the customer's card, tap once, and the stamp is on their phone. Every visit is recorded with who added it.

What a free meal really costs
An example for a "buy 5, the 6th is free" card.
- Average order
- $14
- Paid orders before the reward
- 5 × $14 = $70
- Food cost of the free meal (about 30%)
- about $4.20
- Reward cost per paid order
- about $0.84
- Reward cost as a share of sales
- about 6%
- Smaller option: free drink ($3 menu) after 3 orders
- about $0.50 at cost
Example figures, not data from real trucks. A shorter card costs a little more per order, but on a truck a card that takes months to fill rarely gets finished. Try your own numbers with the stamp card calculator.
Facts worth knowing
- The number of food truck establishments in the US nearly doubled, from 3,281 in 2013 to 5,970 in 2018. (Source: U.S. Census Bureau (September 2, 2020))
Rewards that work for food trucks
- Buy 5, the 6th is free: a short card, because visits depend on where you park.
- A free side or drink as a quicker first reward.
- A reward on a quiet day or a new spot, to bring regulars to a location they don’t know yet.
You can run a punch card or points, set more than one reward, and change it later without losing anyone's progress. For more ideas, read restaurant loyalty program ideas. New to digital cards? Read what a digital loyalty card is and how much a loyalty program costs.
Questions from food trucks
Anything else? Talk to us.
We park in a different spot every day. Does that matter?
No. The card is tied to your truck, not an address. Wherever you park, you scan the same cards from the same phone.
What if the signal is weak where we park?
Adding a stamp needs a connection, and mobile data is enough. The app tells you when you’re offline, and a scan that is retried never adds the stamp twice.
Two of us work the window. Can we both stamp?
Yes. Invite the second person with a code and they stamp from their own phone. Every stamp is recorded with who added it, and owners see it in the activity log.
Do customers with Android phones get the card too?
Yes. Customers with an Android phone save the card to Google Wallet, and iPhone customers save it to Apple Wallet. You scan both the same way.
What about customers without a smartphone?
They need a phone with Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. For the few customers who don’t have one, you can keep a paper card going alongside.
Can I change the reward later?
Yes. Editing a live program keeps everyone’s progress, so stamps already collected still count.
We run two trucks. Does one plan cover both?
Each plan covers one store. If you run more than one, email contact@comprafy.app and we’ll help you set it up.
